The Gym Kicked My Butt!
I admit, I haven’t been to the gym since before my wedding… which was in March. Not good, I know.
I decided that I would start going again today. Of course, I went right back into my “old” routine at the gym. In the middle of lifting some arm machine, I had to stop. My arms were on the verge of shaking. Yes, how quickly we fall out of shape
Of course I kept on pushing myself. Sad to admit, but on the shoulder machine where I used to be able to do 50lbs, I was struggling to do 25lbs. So frustrating!
When I got home and took a shower, just lifting my arms over my head was hard. And I know that when I wake up tomorrow I will be in pain. It will be the pain that you aren’t supposed to have because it means that you overdid it, but in my book, it will be good pain. Pain that proves I pushed myself. I like feeling something.
Tomorrow I’ll focus on my legs and back… and I’m sure that I’ll have some interesting things to post about that too.
Anyone want to join me (virtually, of course) in going to the gym? It’s always fun to have a “buddy” to help you stay focused and motivated. Anyone?

I’ll join you! This is my first time commenting on any of your blogs, but reading this website and your words have touched a deep part of me. (I’m still in the midst of BED, but I’m ready to change. I need it and deserve it) As a 23 y/o housewife with no kids, I really have no excuse not to be at the gym…lol, but for some reason that is always a reason. I have a gym membership that is getting dusty. I was always the one who would never want to lift weights either- because I didn’t want to make me more bulky or gain more weight, but I know this is wrong and I need to get out of that mindframe, I believe with your help I can! Thank you and God bless!!!!
Oh good, I’m glad to have a workout buddy! It’s funny because I don’t think anyone ever has an excuse not to go to the gym… but there are always a million other things that we could do instead.
Once I’m actually at the gym though, I feel ok and get energy. It’s just getting me there… I’ll be going later and will post again. I’d love if you would comment if you do some kind of exercise too!
We’ll motivate each other =)
Great! I’m not a morning gym person (funny comming from me because I’m not really an anytime gym person…lol) I have to be home until my hubby goes to work at 1pm, then I have the day to myself until 10:30pm when he comes home, so I plan to go to a couple of group X classes at my gym. 24Tease (a stripersize class) and Salsa Moves. They are 30 minutes each, and dancing always makes me feel sexy, which is super important. (A major bonus is that they turn the lights out in the strip class so no one feels uncomfortable)…lol. Those are at 7-8pm (Cally time). I’ll post again to let you know if I made it…no- I WILL MAKE IT! (Positive thinking, right?) hehehe…Happy Workout!…Oh, ps…my hubby checked out your website and was super excited too. He said I can get your ebook when we come across some extra money, so I look forward to that! I wish it was in paperback form so I could take it with me where ever I went.
I don’t go to a gym but until recently I have been really consistent about exercising at home in the early morning before work. Now it seems like I just can’t force myself out of bed.
It’s so easy to be lazy. I know I need to get back into my routine. I did it before so I know I can do it again. This weekend I mowed my lawn and was so tired and sore. That never happened when I was exercising. More proof that I have gotten horribly out of shape. I have several workout DVDs that I like. I just have to DO IT!!
Doing it is the hardest part, I will agree. What dvds do you have, Marcia? There are a few that I really like… I just find myself getting too bored too quickly.
Beckie, the striptease & the salsa classes sound really fun. I’ve done both before and you do come away feeling better about yourself. And I’m glad your husband liked my website =) Even though you are purchasing an eBook, you can print it out and carry it around with you just like you could with a paperback!
I thought I would chime in and share some of my favorite Workout DVDs with you guys too.
TaeBo’s Favorite Moves! This is my ultimate favorite and worst enemy at the same time. It Leaves me looking like I jumped in the pool and half crazy- because I’m screaming at the television telling Billy to “Kill me now!” lol…but it is a really good workout and fun.
Another I like is the Jivamukti Yoga with David Life and Sharon Gannon. I love that they combine the yoga with the spiritual- chanting and all- it was beautifully taped too- you can have a male or female voice narrating, that was a nice option. Beautiful music. So relaxing for the morning, you workup a light dewey sweat that’s just enough to shower and start your day without feeling overworked. It’s the Yang to my Tae-Bo’s Yin.
Well, I just got back from the gym did the whole hour of strip class and salsa…VERY fun…I feel so good! I wish they had that class every day. Just go with that “come hither” attitude and imagine your dancing for that special someone! hehehe.
How fun!! Did you have to bring high stilettos for the class? I want to do the S Factor classes and they require that you bring 4″ heels!
I didn’t go to the gym yesterday, but ONLY because I was in pain for my arms. Seriously, I had to have Rob put my hair in a ponytail. Talk about feeling lame…
I have several DVDs. If only I could get fit just from buying them…..:)I have many Caribbean Workouts. I first found this workout watching the FIT cable network and I love them. I have also recorded several other workouts off the FIT channel. I have done TaeBo in the past. I think its a little advanced for me at this stage but I’d like to get back to it. I love kickboxing.
lol…no 4” heels…hehehe, any gym clothes you want and sneakers. 24Tease is more like sexy stripper dancing combined with hip/hop- club type dancing- a lot of boody shaking, body rolls, level changes (really works the thighs and butt!) The S factor sounds fun, I’ve always wanted to learn how to work a pole! lol…
