What Foods Do You Binge On?
Lately I’ve been reading that more and more people are bingeing on various meats. It strikes me as odd, only because
that was never my binge food of choice. Honestly, I cannot even imagine binge eating on chicken and steak. I say that, but remember, I am a vegetarian and I wasn’t too fond of meat even when I did eat it.
My binges preferred chips, dips, cookies, even bread, but never any kind of meat.
Of course I’m just being nosy (I like to call it curious), but when you binge eat, what foods call your name? Are you more like how I used to be with carby types of food, or do you find that meat is more your style? If it is the latter, do you know why? Maybe you just aren’t a sweets types of person - I don’t know.
I’m just curious about this. Please share your binge eating foods with me for my curiousity and nothing more.

Popcorn - but it’s only a binge food if i add real butter. Cookies, ice cream sandwiches. Meal bars - South Beach and Atkins and Kashi. Tortilla Chips.
Although I don’t binge on chicken and steak (steak is expensive! lol) If the chicken was fried and came from KFC…I could see that happening. But lunch meats are very easy to binge on for me especially paired with a piece of cheese all rolled up. I would binge on sweets from time to time, but most of what my husband and I eat is sugar free- so binging on sugary stuff makes me really sick. Starchy stuff is always easy to binge on- cornbread- bread of all sorts…it is easier to binge on starches, but in the midst of a binge, I’d eat whatever was in my line of destruction.
My biggest binge foods are Doritos and Cheetos. Fast food is also a big problem for me. Unfortunately I crave anything that is greasy & salty. Generally meat is not a problem for me, but I do LOVE fried chicken and bacon (again, greasy & salty)
Sweets do not usually trigger a binge for me but can become part of a binge triggered by something else.
Thanks for the great feedback. Out of all of y’all, my binges relate most to Marcia. Seriously, I needed a Doritos intervention. It was bad. Same with fast food. I never found myself wanting to binge on bacon, lunchmeat, chicken, steak, but the chips and fast food called my name out loud.
My husband doesn’t trust me with extra money (because it will mysteriously disapear) So he controls all the money now…wow you’d be suprised how much that can curve a binge! lol…just relinquish all control of the money. I haven’t binged as nearly as much since I’ve been penniless. lol. It is only recently that my husband has become fully aware of the full scope of my problem- so he is knee deep in my buisness…I have to say that it is a huge weight off my shoulders not to have to burden this alone. I’m so thankful. I thought I would share this testimony! So the only time I can go to fast food places now if is hubby is with me, and I’m certainly not going to go hog wild in front of him…I’ll stick to a 6” veggie delight on whole wheat bread…double the veggies and banana peppers please!
I binge on grilled cheese sandwiches. That’s really weird, I know, but I can’t help it, I love the chewy texture…I’m a vegetarian too, and I want to be vegan so badly, but the only thing (ONLY THING!) holding me back are these damn sandwiches. That’s seriously the only animal-derived product I eat!! It’s just sick.
I want help with this so badly, I just don’t know where to start…
Sugar….always sugar. Occasionally mexican food, but always sugar.
Rachel,
Tried making them with soy cheese. And you are instantly a happy vegan!
I always binge on cookies, ice cream, granola bars, and cereal. If im in a big binge mood than Ill eat anything.
To Brenda Robinson:
Now I feel dumb. LOL!! I never even THOUGHT of that!! Do you think it will alter the taste, though?
I binge on white fresh bread and cheese. I can eat a whole loaf of bread in about 5 minutes. Another favourite is takeaway burgers or pizza.
my main things are sugar based aswell- anything from muffins, doghnuts, cake and sometimes chocolate. but again whilst in a binge i will eat anything! ive even eaten dog product sweets. sickening i know! i also find the longer it takes for me to get out of one the more consistently they happen.
Anything I can get my hands on…. muesli, icecream, peanut butter and honey sandwhiches, crackers with light cream cheese and sweet chilli sauce, donuts, tim tams
It was a lot of effoert but I used to cook chocolate pudding and binge on the whole thing with ice-cream. It was my favourite thing so i would make it from scratch - sweets and savouries would alter - start with savouries such as pizza, chicken nuggets or chips - then to chocolate, icecream or sugary cereal. I agree with Becky that having the lower funds helps with binging. LIving by myself and becoming a student low in income effected how often i could binge greatly. I had to budget strongly & wouldn’t allow myself to add any extra expenses to my food bill.
I am in love with this website and I thank my lucky stars that I found Kristin and her websites.
I had an epiphany a few days ago as I just realized that I have Binge Eating Disorder. Time and time again I thought I was just lazy or had no willpower and I just needed to find the right weight loss book or health plan, but now that I have this information, I feel as though the gates of clarity have opened up for me!
I am so glad that I can open up to others like me.
My binges and my choices for binge foods are very specific. Here are 3 examples of usual binges for me:
1.-Skittles
-2 chocolate bars (Kit Kat, Twix, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, etc. Different every time)
- big bag of potato chips (Ruffles or Doritos)
- 2 or 3 mini cakes (Twinkie, Brownie, etc)
- 3 or 4 cans of Pepsi
2. -Spring Rolls and Perogies from Swiss Chalet
- 3 cans of Pepsi
- big dessert (cheesecake, cupcakes, pint of ice cream, depends on the day)
- some form of candy (Skittles, Starburst, Jelly Bellies, etc)
3. Huge McDonalds meal (super-size fries, 6 pack Chicken McNuggets, large Coke, 2 kids hamburgers, 2 chicken fajitas, blueberry muffin)
Please don’t judge! My binges were very ritualistic.
